TRAINING
Trial and error is not an option! In order to keep you, your chapter, and the DAV Department of Alabama on the right track, there must be training. Without training there is the potential of things getting progressively worse over time. As things get worse over time, your membership dwindles and the organization suffers at all levels. Take time to review this information as it has been presented in the past and will be in the future.
Current Training Modules
It is important to be able to conduct your chapter or committee meetings well and in a timely manner. Learn some of the things that make meetings more meaningful for members. Did you know you are to read the DAV Mission Statement at each meeting?

In order for a chapter to be able to help support Veterans in need and operate, sometimes there needs to be a little fundraising. Following the guidance in this slide show presentation will allow your chapter to stay out of trouble and in the good graces of Department and National.
The Department Sr Vice is the number 2 in the department. The responsibilities concerning membership and finances in the department cannot be overlooked and the SVC handles this responsibility. They also step in when the commander cannot be present.
Where would a chapter be without good leadership? That was rhetorical and you don't have to answer. Chapter commanders are the face of the chapter in the community. They bring all of us together and promote the good of the organization. They are not just another pretty face. (Think about that one!)
The glue that holds the organization together, the adjutant is more than a glorified secretary. As the "heartbeat of the DAV" the adjutant is the keeper of continuity. As a jack of all trades; membership, finance, committees, fundraising, etc., it takes a well organized person to put on this hat.
